A mutual exclusivity is logically at work here. If (1) is true, most of the others are false; if (2) is true, most others are probably false, and so on. Clearly, (3) challenges (1) and implies that the ‘DR problem’ might evaporate if only all those DRs would submit to psychoanalysis or CBT. Conceivably, a radical version of (5) might one day identify biological roots of depression and/or DR, and instigate a programme to eliminate it. A dismal DR prediction, however, is that if we could convene a panel representing all these positions (and more), no agreement would ever be reached. Of course, I am saying nothing new here, and we could say the same if we changed the topic to war, crime, and so on.
